Q: Where did you find your materials to set up your classroom library?
A: I got them from former teachers, scholastic book orders, literacy lab, and personal library from my house.
Q: How do you organize your books in your library?
A: At the beginning of the school year they were color coded by grade level and the levels were provided by the school library.
Q: Do you allow children to take home your books?
A: Yes
Q: What time during your day do you allow them to look for books?
A: They have to read their 2 library books, and all 20 library books from the basket that they get each week and then they can look in my library.
Q: How do you check books in and out?
A: They have to sign-out with her using a journal and she writes down the name of the student, the date when they checked it out, and the name of the book. They check the book back in with her and she crosses them off her list.
Q: How long do they keep the books?
A: She will ask them their progress on the book each day, so they can keep it until they are finished.
Q: What are your rules for your library?
A: There can only be 2 students at a time in the library and the leader gets to choose a partner to be back in the library with them. They have to finish reading their 2 library books, and all 20 library books from the basket that they get each week and then they can look in my library.
Q: What type of reading lab does the school provide?
A: They have guided reading groups.

A: Scholastic

A: Yes
Q: Do you find that AR reading is helpful?
A: Yes, very much so!
Q: Do you invite parents to help your classroom library?
A: I have in the past, but not so much anymore.
